This Pinafore is my best work yet. At least, my best collaboration between my daughter Chickadee and I. For those of you not familiar with my story-let’s face it, most… Read more →
Saturday, April 27, 2013 Dear Friend, When I heard about your trouble I was touched. I know that you aren’t looking for comfort, so please don’t feel the need to comfort me about feeling touched by your trouble. I just wanted to share my own. Don’t feel obliged to indulge, when we are troubled it seems everyone tends to over-share…. Read more →
Yesterday I spent the day tracing off patterns and finishing off Sprout’s shorts. Then I cut out Miss’s stretch denim cropped jeans. I’m using Ottobre Design Woman 2/2013 look #5 “Sleek and Modern.” I love Ottobre Design because they send me 20-40 patterns for about $15 per magazine. I signed up for the full year as a sort of crash… Read more →
I’m busy. Pulling out teeth and zipping up flies. Button loops applied since this rendering. But-I’m busy. I’ll have to do more posts as a follow up! Lookit what I did!
For my second project, I made Miss an elastic lace overlay shirt. What can I say. It’s the THING lately. Thank goodness it was on clearance over at good ol’ Fabric.com a few weeks ago. (It’s sold out-oh you know you want it-but I linked to lace overlay) It looks awesome with her hair. We used Ottobre Design’s Woman issue for… Read more →
I’ve been making the Sprout new clothes. And everyone else too. After I discovered I could sew on knits, a whole new world opened up to me. I suddenly realized that I can sew real clothes. Not just the ruffle filled saccharine sweet dresses that kids wear a couple of times before they outgrow them. I’ve made about ten tee… Read more →
On Thursday my 10 year old asked if she could take a frying pan to school on Monday. I want you to know I didn’t laugh. As a mark of my parenting I will say that for myself. I asked why she would want to take that heavy cast iron thing to school. What she said changed my life. She… Read more →
Here are some bibs I cut out. You shall forevermore refer to them as aprons.
As you may or may not know my Etsy Shop has bibs in it for Chickadee. Don’t you DARE tell her I used the “b” word to describe her aprons which are waterproof on the back and have a super absorbent top. For her they are fashion accessories, and that was my goal. I make them for babies, boys and… Read more →
We have a new life. Chickadee has seizures now. They were uncontrollable for four months. She had 6-8 a day, breathing difficulties, rashes that sent us dashing to the ER, and 5 hospital visits lasting at least two nights. I was fraught. We changed meds and pumped meds and are now on an every-six-hour routine. It’s like having a newborn… Read more →
I’m entertaining the thought of blogging again. But nothing like I did. My life is settling down, and Chickadee is 1) not having 8 uncontrolled seizures a day and 2) seems to be more energetic although her (hide your squeamish eyes) bowel motility has been making it so that for 6 weeks now Chickadee has been unable to poop or… Read more →
